1 Hospitalized after Modesto Single-Vehicle Accident

 
MODESTO, CA (March 6, 2019) – A sustained critical injuries in a single-vehicle car crash on March 1 on Coffee Road in Modesto.
 
Police stated the single-vehicle accident occurred on Coffee Road after 2:30 p.m.
 
Modesto Fire Battalion Chief, Ryan Winton said, “We arrived to see a single vehicle on school grounds here at John Muir Elementary School. A single vehicle into a tree with the driver trapped.”
 
The male driver hit the curb, crashed into a fence at the school before hitting a tree. The vehicle caught fire, feet away from a school playground and basketball courts.
 
In addition, the firefighters revealed that good Samaritans helped to put out the fire. However, the driver was stuck inside.
 
The crews spent almost an hour to free him from the wreckage.
 
“An hour is a pretty extended amount of time to be trapped in a vehicle. It just took them a while to get him out because of the damage to the vehicle and the position he was inside the vehicle,” Winton added.
 
Reports revealed that Modesto firefighters had to disassemble the BMW to extricate the driver stuck inside. After that, medical responders took the male driver from the area in critical condition.
 
No other person suffered injuries in the collision.
