75-year-old Man Killed in Carmichael Bicycle Accident
CARMICHAEL, CA (November 19, 2018) – A 75-year-old Sacramento man was killed Saturday night after colliding with an SUV while riding his bicycle near the intersection of Winding Way and Rampart Drive.
Reports from the California Highway Patrol and the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said a 50-year-old Carmichael man was driving a red Lexus RX 400 eastbound on Winding Way. The bicyclist entered the intersection with Rampart Way from a shopping center and was struck by the Lexus. He was ejected from his bicycle and died at the scene.
CHP officials say the bicyclist went out into the intersection in front of the Lexus. He also reportedly did not use his light while riding during hours of darkness and was not wearing a helmet.
Drugs and alcohol were ruled out as factors in the collision which remains under investigation.
