Police Pursuit Leads to Man’s Arrest in Lakewood
LAKEWOOD, WA (FEBRUARY 5, 2019) – On Tuesday afternoon, a man was arrested after a standoff with police on 5 Freeway. The identity of the male has not yet been released to the public.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident occurred around 4:00 PM near Gravelly Lake Drive.
As per reports, a Toyota Sequoia passed an officer on freeway at least 100 MPH. The officer catched up to the driver before the Sequoia crashed into a semi-truck. Due to the impact, the semi struck the center median.
First responders arrived at the scene and stated the semi-truck driver was able to exit his vehicle uninjured. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Lakewood Police officers took the Sequoia driver into custody at about 5:20 PM.
The freeway was shut down in both directions for over an hour for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. No further details have been disclosed to the public, as the investigation continues.
