Car Crashes Down Embankment on Old Highway 395 in Fallbrook Killing the Driver and Passenger
FALLBROOK, CA (February 16, 2020) – A man and a woman were killed in a car accident Sunday afternoon in Fallbrook, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 2:11 p.m. on southbound Old Highway 395 at Reche Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a black 2005 Ford Mustang was heading south when it lost control and crashed at the intersection. It then veered off the west side of the road, went down a 30-foot ravine and crashed into a large tree.
The driver of the vehicle, a 42-year-old Fallbrook man, and his passenger, a 39-year-old Oceanside woman, were ejected during the crash. Arriving units pronounced them dead at the scene.
Authorities did not release the victims’ identities pending notification of their family members.
Both sides of Old Highway 395 were closed until around 6:30 p.m. as crews worked to clear the crash site.
CHP officials are still investigating the cause of the crash and factors involved.
