Cyclist Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries after High-Speed Crash on West Laurel Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 13, 2019) – A 60-year-old cyclist suffered critical injuries in a bicycle crash on West Laurel Street, Saturday afternoon.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened at about 3:00 PM. A westbound bicyclist made an unsafe turn at a high speed, causing him to hit a side view mirror of a car. He lost control of the bicycle as a result of the collision. Then, the bicycle overturned, ejecting the cyclist onto the road.
Emergency responders transported the cyclist to a hospital with a life-threatening head injury. Authorities did not provide updates on the victim’s current condition. Meanwhile, it is unknown whether or not the driver of the car remained to render aid.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
