Fatal Bicycle Collision on Alfred Harrell Highway near China Grade Loop
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 31, 2019) – A 57-year-old man died in a bicycle collision on Alfred Harrell Highway, Saturday morning. Authorities withheld his identity, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 9:25 AM. Due to unknown reasons, a bicyclist made an abrupt left turn into the path of a pickup truck. Then, the right front corner of the truck hit the rider.
Hall Ambulance transported the bicyclist to Kern Medical Center with major injuries. Unfortunately, he died hours after the incident. Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck remained and cooperated with investigators.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal collision. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
