1 Dead and Jacob Gralitzer Arrested after Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Melrose Avenue
FAIRFAX, CA (August 1, 2019) – A man died in a pedestrian crash on Melrose Avenue, Thursday evening. Authorities withheld the identity of the 24-year-old victim, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened at about 10:30 PM. A 2017 Acura MDX attempted to turn left on Martel Avenue when it collided with an eastbound 2018 Infinity Q60S.
The impact sent the Acura careening off the road and onto the sidewalk. There, the vehicle hit the victim.
Good Samaritans attempted to perform CPR on the male victim before paramedics arrived. Emergency responders then rushed the victim to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with a serious head injury. Unfortunately, he died hours after the collision.
Meanwhile, both drivers remained and cooperated with investigators. Los Angeles police later arrested the driver of the Infinity, identified as 27-year-old Jacob Gralitzer. Authorities booked him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence.
Additional information will be released to the public once it becomes available.
