Cristobal Barajas Involved in Santa Rosa Pedestrian Accident

SANTA ROSA, CA (February 6, 2019) – A pedestrian hit by a car as he crossed West College Avenue in the pouring rain remained hospitalized with critical injuries Monday, Santa Rosa police said.

The man, who appeared to be drunk, crossed the road near the railroad tracks about 7:40 p.m. Friday, Sgt. Summer Gloeckner said. He used a crosswalk, but hadn’t hit the button to light up the pathway.

Cristobal Barajas, 51, of Santa Rosa, stopped after he felt his pickup struck something near the tracks and then found he’d hit the man, police said.

Several callers dialed 911 after the pedestrian was knocked to the median.

Gloeckner declined to identify the man, saying his family hadn’t yet been notified about his serious injuries. The man suffered a broken leg and head and major internal injuries but was expected to survive.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information should call Officer Jeff Adams at 707‑543‑3636.
