1 Dead in Long Beach Pedestrian Accident on Pacific Avenue
LONG BEACH, CA (May 19, 2020) – Early Sunday morning, a male pedestrian crawling across the street was killed in a crash on Pacific Avenue.
The officers responded at 3:54 a.m. on Pacific Avenue and Fifth Street.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the pedestrian was crawling east and west, attempting to cross the number one and two lanes of northbound Pacific Avenue.
Unfortunately, a white sedan, probably a Nissan, struck him. The police confirmed that the said vehicle was in the number one lane.
“After the collision, the vehicle continues northbound (on) Pacific Avenue without stopping to render aid to the pedestrian and turns eastbound on Sixth Street,” police added.
Emergency Response and On-Going Investigation
Paramedics also came to the crash scene to save the injured pedestrian lying in the northbound number 2 lane of Pacific Avenue. The medical responders then transported the victim to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Due to a lack of details, the events leading up to the collision remain unclear.
