1 Injured in Fresno Hit-and-Run Accident on Fifth Street
FRESNO, CA (June 24, 2020) – Early Monday morning, a male pedestrian suffered injuries in a hit-and-run accident on Fifth Street.
The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. on Fifth Street and Ventura Avenue.
According to the witnesses, a black vehicle hit a man in the road. Furthermore, the man was in the middle of the intersection when the crash occurred.
More so, it’s still unclear whether the vehicle hit the man while he crossed the street.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they located the man lying on the ground.
Immediately, responders transported him to a local hospital. Unfortunately, there’s no word available regarding his condition.
Moreover, the Fresno Police are now looking for the suspect driver. However, they weren’t able to provide any description of the suspect or the vehicle.
Facts about Pedestrians and Accidents
Pedestrians have the right of way at any crosswalk or intersection. Therefore, it’s a driver’s responsibility to yield and be prepared to stop.
While car accidents are far more common than pedestrian accidents, there is still reason to be wary when traveling on foot.
Common locations for these pedestrian incidents include shopping center entrances, street corners, and intersections.
“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents. Nevertheless, the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
