Man Dead in Elk Grove Fatal Accident on Highway 99 near Sheldon Road
ELK GROVE, CA (December 20, 2018) – A male driver in an SUV died in a multi-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 99 on Wednesday, December 19.
The collision occurred in Elk Grove on Highway 99 between Sheldon Road and Bond Road at around 3:30 a.m.
According to authorities, the driver first lost control and struck the center median, disabling the 2007 Buick SUV in the number three lane.
Investigators stated that a 2016 Kenworth semi-truck crashed with the Buick and the man who was standing outside of the SUV.
A 2018 Freightliner then hit the man as he lay in the roadway.
Officials pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name will be released once his loved ones are notified.
Lanes on Highway 99 were closed for several hours as a result of the accidents.
At this time it is not known what caused the incident but investigators believe speed may have played a role in the crash.
No arrests have been made.
