REDDING, CA (August 22, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, a male driver died in a crash on State Route 99 and Hutchinson Road.
 
The incident occurred at about 5:20 a.m. on State Route 99 and Hutchinson Road.
 
According to reports, a northbound white Ford Fusion went off the road and crashed into a ditch east of the highway. Then, the male driver exited the vehicle and stood in traffic lanes, attempting to stop passing vehicles.
 
However, a silver Honda Civic driving south hit the man at about 5:25 a.m. As a result, the man fell into the northbound lanes. Then, a gray Honda Civic driving north hit the man.
 
After the crash, both vehicles stopped and were cooperative with the investigation.
 
Meanwhile, the Ford Fusion driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
 
Furthermore, authorities believed that alcohol played a role in the crash.
