Injuries Sustained in Clear Lake Auto Accident on State Route 20 and State Route 53
CLEAR LAKE, CA (July 3, 2024) – Monday night, a crippling truck crash on State Route 20 and State Route 53 led to a major injury.
The crash happened at around 5:50 p.m. when a big rig carrying bales of hay overturned near a dangerous curve on State Route 20 and State Route 53.
The accident caused significant disruptions. The bales of hay spilled across the roadway, covering about 200 feet of the lane. Meanwhile, several motorists stopped to clear the hay, but the situation led to secondary collisions resulting in injuries. One individual was reported to have head and shoulder injuries, and emergency services were actively managing traffic at the scene.
By 6:23 PM, the eastbound lane was completely blocked, though the westbound lane remained open. Efforts to clear the hazardous curve on the roadway were ongoing. At approximately 6:40 PM, personnel on the scene announced the need to shut down the roadway to allow for the air ambulance to land.
