Traffic Stalled after San Francisco Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 280 and Geneva Avenue

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 27, 2023) – Monday afternoon, a major injury crash on Interstate 280 and Geneva Avenue blocked several lanes.

The crash involving three vehicles happened on Interstate 280, just south of Geneva Avenue on-ramp.

Reports said that the crash initially shut down four of the five southbound lanes before a second lane was reopened at 3:39 p.m. Officers advised drivers to avoid the area and find alternate routes. Then, by 4:05 p.m., all lanes were reopened.

Officers added that the incident may have involved a wrong-way driver who came from John Daly Drive.

However, the authorities haven’t identified the number of occupants in the vehicles and the severity of their injuries. Meanwhile, CHO confirmed that some patients were taken to the hospital.

Some people were transported to the hospital, CHP said.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
