Semi-Truck Involved in Crash on Highway 299
FRENCH GULCH, CA (May 30, 2019) – Major injuries were sustained in a head-on crash on Highway 299 early Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place around 4:58 AM. In addition, the accident happened just one mile west of Trinity Mountain Road. Based on an initial report, a semi-truck crashed over the side of the roadway, at least 100 feet down a creek bridge. However, an unidentified vehicle had crashed over an embankment.
One person was trapped in the big rig. Paramedics took the victim to Mercy Medical Center Redding for treatment. According to officials, the victim sustained major injuries.
All eastbound lanes closed while fire official worked to clear the area. The cause and events leading up to the collision were not disclosed to the public. However, officials continue to investigate the accident.
