DUI Driver Involved in Major Collision near Coronado Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 25, 2018) – Major injuries were sustained in a suspected DUI crash on southbound 5 Freeway, Tuesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 10:16 PM, near the Coronado Avenue off-ramp. Based on their report, there were two vehicles involved in the incident. One car rolled over multiple times and landed on its roof.
Fire officials worked to extricate one person from the overturned vehicle. The paramedics transported the victim to UCSD Medical Center and confirmed that serious injuries sustained due to impact.
Towing services were then requested for cleaning and clearing operations in the area. An initial assessment showed that the incident was DUI-related. It was not clear which party was liable for the rollover. No other information has been disclosed to the public, as the investigation is ongoing.
