Vehicle Catches Fire in Collision near 80 Freeway
OAKLAND, CA (May 24, 2019) – Major damage was sustained in a multi-car crash on westbound 580 Freeway, early Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 12:43 AM, just east of 80 Freeway. Based on an initial report, there were four vehicles involved in the pile-up. One of the parties had caught fire in the incident. Vehicle descriptions were not yet released.
The paramedics were requested for needed medical attention. They reported injuries sustained by the involved motorists. Fortunately, all conditions were said to be non-life threatening.
A Honda car was seen with major damage. All eastbound to westbound lanes were temporarily closed while clearing, and cleaning operations took place in the area.
An investigation is still on-going to determine the cause of the commotion.
