REEVES COUNTY, TX (October 16, 2024) – Saturday morning, Mahmoud Abbad died in a fiery vehicle crash on US 285 near Mile Marker 342.

The incident happened on US 285 near mile marker 342.

According to reports, a southbound 2024 International truck veered off the roadway for still unknown reasons. Then, the truck spun out of control and struck a Chevrolet Equinox that erupted into flames after the crash.

Moreover, responders pronounced the driver of the Equinox, identified as 56-year-old Abbad, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the driver of the truck, identified as 41-year-old Benjamin Raul Hernandez, to Reeves Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
