Teen Driver and Young Boy Dead in Head-On Crash in Madera
MADERA, CA (April 13, 2019) – Two people were killed following a head-on crash Saturday afternoon in Madera.
The fatal crash happened 4:25 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue 12 and Avenue 34 1/2. According to the CHP, a black Audi was traveling eastbound. However, for unknown reasons, the Audi drifted into the westbound lane. As a result, it collided head-on with a Toyota 4-Runner.
The 17-year-old driver of the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, an 11-year-old boy in the Toyota also died. Their identities were not immediately available.
There were five people in the Toyota, including three children. One victim was airlifted to a hospital, while the others were taken by ground ambulance.
The Avenue 12 was closed for hours while evidence from the scene was collected and photographed.
It is unknown if speed, distracted driving or intoxication played a part in the crash. An investigation is still ongoing.
