58-Year-Old Danville Doctor Fatally Injured in Accident near El Pintado Road
DANVILLE, CA (June 11, 2018) – A woman was killed after a large tree fell on her vehicle while traveling on Interstate 680, on Monday morning. She was later identified as 58-year-old Lyudmila Beyzer, a doctor from Danville.
The accident took place on the northbound I-680, just north of the El Pintado Road on-ramp, around 9:00 AM. Beyzer was traveling north in a newer-model Mercedes Benz, north of El Cerro Boulevard, when a 50-60 foot dead pine tree collapsed onto her car.
No other damage was done to any other cars on the road, and Beyzer had to be cut free from the greatly damaged vehicle. She was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders. The large tree was on a slope next to the highway, about 20 yard up, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Brandon Correia.
Three out of the four lanes of the highway were closed as authorities investigated and crews members cleared the tree debris from the road. A SigAlert was issued for heavy traffic, and all lanes were reopened around 12:30 PM.
It was confirmed that the tree was on Caltrans property, and they are examining the cause of the collision. No additional information has been released to the public as the investigation continues.
Heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Lyudmila Beyzer. She was an internal medicine doctor affiliated with several local hospitals, and had an office in Walnut Creek. She will be missed by family, friends, colleagues, staff, and patients. May she rest in peace.
