19-Year-Old Struck by Bus and Fatally Injured on 9th Street and Newcomb Street – Lyric Franklin
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (February 28, 2018) – A 19-year-old woman was struck and killed by a Omnitrans bus on the 25900 block of 9th Street, on Wednesday evening.
Around 10:30 PM, Lyric Monee Franklin was crossing 9th Street from the north side to the southeast side of Newcomb Street. The young woman stepped out from behind a parked car, trying to run across the intersection, and into the pathway of an oncoming bus.
Cal Fire paramedics and sheriff’s deputies responded to the site of the accident to find the young woman in the road. Franklin suffered traumatic injuries from the impact of crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was shut down for several hours while officials investigated the scene of the crash. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department continues their investigation, and asks that anyone with information on the fatal accident call the Highland station at (909) 387-8313.
