Injuries Reported in Mattawa Auto Accident on State Route 243
MATTAWA, WA (October 5, 2021) – Monday morning, Lynda Burts suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash on State Route 243.
The incident happened on State Route 243, north of Mattawa.
According to Trooper John Bryant, 62-year-old Lynda Burts of Wenatchee drove south in a Mazda CX-5. Then, she veered into the northbound lane and crashed with a Chevy Impala head-on. Afterward, a northbound Subaru Legacy hit her.
“Post-collision all northbound lanes were blocked. The Mazda stopped about 25 feet off of the southbound shoulder. Burts was severely injured.” said Bryant, “She was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital (CWH) and still remains there.”
A Life Flight transported Burts to CWH. Meanwhile, a driver sustained a minor injury while the other suffered no injuries.
At this time, the authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
Meanwhile, the incident blocked State Route 243 for around four hours.
