Woman Sustains Major Injuries in Pedestrian Crash near Ruffner Street

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 16, 2019) – A Lyft driver was involved in a major pedestrian accident on Balboa Avenue on Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened near the intersection of Ruffner Street at approximately 3:00 AM.
 
Based on a report from the San Diego Police Department, a woman crossed the intersection when a dark gray Kia hit her. Police identified the vehicle as a Lyft car. However, it did not have any passengers at the time of the crash.
 
Paramedics transported the victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment of major injuries. She suffered serious injuries, including a brain bleed.
 
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said the investigation is ongoing, but that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision.
