62-Year-Old Stockton Man Identified as Victim in Crash near Industrial Boulevard
HAYWARD, CA (August 25, 2018) – A man was killed Saturday afternoon following a truck collision near Industrial Boulevard. The victim was later identified as 62-year-old Stockton resident, Ly Thao Nyia Yi.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place shortly before 2:30 PM on Highway 92. Nyia Yi was on his way to pick up his wife, who was selling vegetables at the Union City Farmers’ Market. For unknown reasons, his box truck collided with a big rig, causing the latter to overturn.
Nyia Yi sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the condition and the identity of the big rig driver remain unknown.
