Luz Aurora Casado and Others Killed in South Jackson Road Collision [Edinburg, TX]

Edinburg, TX (July 26, 2023) – On Monday night, 50-year-old Luz Aurora Casado, 68-year-old Maria Zavala Casado, and 2-year-old Elleiana Santoy were killed in a South Jackson Road collision.

The authorities responded to the crash scene at about 9:14 p.m. to the 2200 block area wherein two vehicles collided head-on.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a black truck driven by 46-year-old Sheng Li Jiang veered into the southbound lane and collided with a gray minivan driven by Luz Aurora Casado.

Unfortunately, Luz Aurora Casado succumbed to her injuries at the crash scene while her mother Maria Zavala Casado and granddaughter Elleiana Santoy were rushed to DHR Hospital where they died.

Casado’s a 10-year-old niece from Edinburg is in critical condition.

Similarly, Sheng Li Jiang is also in critical condition. The accident report stated that he will be facing charges.
