Luke Quinton Arrested, Five Hurt in Menlo Park Fiery DUI Accident

MENLO PARK, CA (May 28, 2019) — Five people sustained injuries following a DUI following a fiery crash in Menlo Park on Sunday, May 26.

According to the police, the accident occurred at El Camino Real and Oak Grove Avenue.

It occurred at around 12:29 a.m. when a small SUV crashed with a 1965 Buick Riviera carrying four people – two men and two young women.

The SUV punctured the Riviera’s fuel tank. This caused a fire to erupt, the Menlo Park Fire Protection District stated. The SUV then struck a stoplight pole.

The burning Riviera went on at about 100 feet south. It then came to rest in front of the Mattress Firm store, with the four occupants trapped inside.

The four tried to escape from the burning vehicle, however, the doors would not open because they had been jammed shut by the collision. Through kicking and pounding the driver’s door, they were all able to get out of the burning vehicle.

Firefighter paramedics treated the four occupants. All complained of smoke inhalation. Two suffered second-degree burns and impact related body injuries. An ambulance rushed them to Stanford Hospital. The other two victims decided to drive with someone else to the hospital.

According to the police, they arrested the SUV driver for DUI felony. Authorities identified him as 25-year-old Luke Quinton, of Menlo Park. He was also taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, firefighters doused the burning street and vehicle fire.

Getting a DUI is not an easy time emotionally or physically. It is important to make a personal choice not to drink and drive. It is also important to look out for others who may be driving while intoxicated and to persuade those who have been drinking not to get behind the wheel. Your small choices can make a big difference in road safety.
