Police Apprehended Luke Fitch for Newport Crash killing Arda Gulesserian
Whitefish, MT (June 18, 2020) – On June 11, Police arrested Luke Fitch for a crash that Killed Arda Gulesserian on the 73 Freeway.
Police arrested him on June 11 at his home in Whitefish, Montana.
He left California after the June 5, 2019 incident.
Fitch was driving a Mercedes-Benz heading southbound in the northbound lanes and his speed was 100 miles per hour.
Suddenly, the Mercedes-Benz slammed into a BMW and killed the driver.
The police identified the victim as Arda Gulesserian, 64, from Newport Beach.
Then, a Lexus sedan then ran into the Mercedes-Benz.
Fitch suffered major injuries and had at least one surgery.
Florentino Olivera, a California Highway Patrol officer said Wednesday that police had been building their case prior to taking Fitch into custody.
On June 4, almost a year after the collision, a warrant was issued for Fitch’s arrest.
He faces three felony counts: one for murder and two for assault with a deadly weapon.
CHP did not discuss how Fitch was tracked down to Montana.
Furthermore, it is unclear if authorities suspect Fitch was under the influence at the time of the crash.
Moreover, according to Orange County court records, in April 2019, Fitch pleaded nolo contendere to a hit and run with property damage.
Also, in August 2014, he pleaded guilty to unsafe speed for prevailing conditions, while before that, he completed traffic school for exceeding the maximum speed of 65 mph in November 2013.
