405 Freeway Crash in Irvine Kills 2 People
IRVINE, CA (October 31, 2019) — Officials identified two Anaheim residents who died after their car crash and landed on a center divider of the 405 Freeway near Irvine Center Drive.
The single-vehicle crash happened Tuesday in northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway at about 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29. Orange County Fire Department officials are unsure how the accident occurred. However, a Nissan Altima appeared to have collided with a pole hard enough to crush the car’s passenger cabin.
Luis Eduardo Vazquez, 28, was behind the wheel of the Nissan during the crash, Orange County Deputy Supervising Coroner Artin Baron said. Mayra Alejandra Castillo, 27, was in the passenger seat. Police pronounced both dead at the site of the collision.
Details regarding what might have led up to the crash were not immediately released.
