Luis Topete Dead, Jorge Plascencia and Juan Plascencia Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Gardner Field Road [Taft, CA]

Luis Topete Fatally Injured, Plascencia and Juan Plascencia Hurt in Taft Accident

 
TAFT, CA (April 22, 2019) — A driver suffered fatal injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Taft on Thursday, April 18.
 
At around 7:25 a.m., CHP rushed to Gardner Field Road upon receiving calls about a traffic collision.
 
During an investigation of the incident, officials found out that a 48-year-old male drove a 2006 Dodge Caravan. He traveled north on Gardner Field Road of Southlake Road at an unknown speed.
 
At the same time, 50-year-old Jorge Plascencia driving a 2018 Chevy Silverado traveled on Gardner Field Road at approximately 55 mph approaching the Dodge Caravan. The driver of the Dodge, for an undetermined reason, crossed over into the opposite lane and crashed with Plascencia’s vehicle.
 
The driver of the Dodge sustained fatal injuries. The Kern County Coroner has identified him as Luis Figueroa Topete, 48, of Taft.
 
Plascencia, the driver of the Chevy, suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to Kern Medical by Hall Air ambulance. In addition, 36-year-old Juan Plascencia who was a passenger of the Chevy had some minor injuries.
 
Investigators said that drugs or alcohol does not appear to have played a role in this collision. All three wore their seat-belt at the time of the incident
 
There were no arrests made.
