Luis Mortaya-Hernandez Killed in North 4th Avenue Crash [Pasco, WA]

Pasco, WA (August 27, 2021) – On Sunday, 55-year-old Luis Mortaya-Hernandez was fatally injured in North 4th Avenue hit-and-run crash.

The deadly accident took place at about 1:30 a.m. east of the Pasco Airport warehouse district north of Interstate 182.

Responding officers located the victim unresponsive. They took him to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the officers did not say how long after the crash that the victim passed away.

A Port of Pasco security guard said he saw Mortaya-Hernandez  walking northbound on the roadway minutes before the incident happened.

Moreover, investigating officers contacted a suspect who identified themselves as the driver. 

Officers impounded the suspect’s vehicle as evidence. They said the vehicle bears damage consistent with details of the crime. The authorities are awaiting conclusive lab results as evidence.

Since the suspect complies with the investigation, Pasco police have not yet arrested the suspect.
