Luis Alatorre Dead and Several Injured after Tulare County Crash on Highway 99
TULARE COUNTY, CA (April 20, 2021) – Saturday, Luis Martin Alatorre Sr. died in a Highway 99 accident involving Maria Bobadilla.
According to reports, the incident occurred at about 6:26 p.m. northbound on Highway 99 and Avenue 16.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they found out that a Jeep Gladiator drove into the oncoming lane. Then, it collided head-on into a GMC Sierra.
As a result, both vehicles went into the center median and struck the guardrail. Then, the Jeep rolled over through the center median until it landed in the southbound lanes of Highway 99.
Thus, the Jeep went directly into the path of a Nissan Sentra and BMW motorcycle.
Afterward, both vehicles crashed into the Jeep. The force of the crash threw off both riders.
Responders airlifted the BMW motorcycle’s rider to Kern Medical, where he died of his injuries. Meanwhile, the motorcycle’s passenger went to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia with major injuries.
Furthermore, responders took the GMC Sierra’s driver and passenger to Delano Regional Medical Center with moderate-major injuries.
Also, authorities determined that the 19-year-old Jeep driver, Maria Bobadilla of Earlimart, was under the influence of alcohol. Thus, officers arrested her on the scene.
The authorities booked Bobadilla into the Tulare County Pre-Trial facility for gross vehicular manslaughter. She also received charges on felony DUI causing injury and causing great bodily injury to multiple victims.
