Man Dead after Being Dragged by Stolen Vehicle near Hawthorne Boulevard
LAWNDALE, CA (December 1, 2018) – A man was killed Saturday evening after he was dragged by his vehicle near Hawthorne Boulevard. The victim was later identified as 47-year-old Luis Fernando Cuba, a resident of Hawthorne.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened on Redondo Beach Boulevard, at about 8:30 PM. Cuba parked outside a convenience store and left the engine running. As he was walking toward the business, the suspects entered the vehicle and began to drive away.
The victim then clung to the door of his car and was dragged a couple of hundred yards before he fell off. Cuba suffered traumatic injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment and evaluation. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead hours after the incident.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the location of the suspects and the stolen vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. No further details have been provided to the public at this time.
