Oakley Teen Luis Esparza Killed, Colby Sharver Arrested in Byron DUI Accident on Byron Highway

BYRON, CA (September 6, 2021) – Sunday night, Luis Esparza, 16, died in a pedestrian crash on the 8300 block of Byron Highway.

According to CHP Officer Brandon Correia, the DUI accident happened at around 11:15 a.m. Moreover, it occurred in the 8300 block of Byron Highway.

Reports revealed that a 2002 Subaru Impreza struck an 18-year-old Pittsburg woman and 16-year-old Oakley boy. The vehicle struck the pedestrians at a large gathering in the area.

Furthermore, officials confirmed that the two pedestrians died in the Contra Costa crash.

Moreover, authorities arrested the 18-year-old Knightsen man driving the Subaru. Police identified him as Colby Sharver. At this time, the authorities suspect him of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.

Meanwhile, authorities transported the suspect to Martinez detention facility and later booked him into jail.
