2 Dead and Luis Chicas Hurt in Modesto Accident on Highway 132
MODESTO, CA (September 8, 2020) – On Monday, a woman and child died, while two men suffered injuries in a crash on Highway 132.
The fatal crash occurred at 4:02 p.m. on Highway 132 between River Road and McCracken Road. According to reports, the crash scene happened around 14 miles west of downtown Modesto.
According to some witnesses, a green Honda Civic driven by the now deceased Cecilia Delgadillo, traveled east on 132 at an unknown speed. Meanwhile, a white Ford Econoline van headed west, Sgt. John French of the California Highway Patrol said.
As the Honda tried to pass traffic, Ms. Delgadillo turned sharply to the right, heading back into the eastbound lane. Then, it drove onto the right shoulder before the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Afterward, the vehicle went across all lanes until it went into the path of a white van. The white van crashed into the Honda’s passenger side.
As a result, the front-seat passenger, a 12-year-old girl, and Cecilia Delgadillo suffered fatal injuries. Meanwhile, a helicopter transported two other children with serious injuries.
Luis Chicas suffered major injuries, and medics took him to San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp. His passenger, 34-year-old Irvin Z. Medina, a resident of Redwood City, claimed he felt pain in his neck, hand, and side.
“This is the fourth fatality this Labor Day weekend,” Thomas Olsen, spokesman for CHP revealed.
Due to the crash, the Highway 132 remained unavailable and the authorities advised motorists to use alternate routes.
