Driver Still At Large after Oakland Protest Accident on 17th Street
OAKLAND, CA (June 8, 2020) – Lucie Flynn sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash on 17th Street on May 30.
According to reports, victim Lucie Flynn remained in a hospital in serious injuries after a week of the incident. The police also revealed that the said vehicle also hit another person.
The authorities described the vehicle ad a silver sedan with tinted windows and black rims.
Flynn joined thousands of protesters across the Bay Area for the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
As the police disperse the crowd on 17th Street and Telegraph Avenue, a flash-bang exploded a few seconds before the driver hit the gas pedal and hit both pedestrians.
As a result, Lucie Flynn sustained several broken bones, including her entire ribcage, as well as a punctured lung. Due to her injuries, she found it hard to breathe on her own. Responders transported her for surgery and stayed at a hospital.
Meanwhile, her family set up a GoFundMe page that has gathered more than $23,000 in donations.
While driving is essential for many to move about in their lives, it is one of the most dangerous activities performed daily.
As a driver, it is crucial to understand that you practice safe driving habits on the road at all times. Do it even when it is empty, even when there is no police officer around to make sure you make a complete stop.
Pedestrian Accidents and Personal Injury Lawyers in California
In a time like this, walking outside has increased in commonality. At the same time, pedestrian accidents have also spiked in popularity.
A pedestrian accident occurs when someone who is not in a vehicle is injured by someone in a vehicle crashing into them. As a driver, be cautious when backing up. Pedestrians, especially young children, can move across your path.
“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents, but the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers. “Some of the worst pedestrian incidents involve minors because they are sometimes hard to see and they also ride bikes, skateboards, etc. Common locations for these pedestrian incidents include shopping center entrances and street corners.”
