Two people Killed and One Critically Injured in Car Crash West of Lafon Road
LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (January 11, 2018) – CHP reported a deadly accident on Thursday morning around 8:21 PM on 44084 Old Woman Springs Road, just west of Lafon Road.
A black 2003 Ford F150 was traveling eastbound, when it passed the double yellow lines into the westbound lanes and crashed head-on into a brown 2017 Lexus SUV that was going west near mile marker 30. The Ford caught on fire from the impact of the crash, which firefighters later extinguished.
Both the Ford driver and Lexus passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. 62-year-old woman from Breckenridge that was driving the Lexus, was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with severe injuries, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Robert Grieve.
Officers from the Victorville and Morongo Basin CHP offices responded to the scene along with the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
Both lanes of Old Woman Springs Road were blocked for investigation, cleanup, and transportation. The eastbound lanes of Old Woman Springs Rd opened around 9:46 AM, while the westbound lanes didn’t open until around 1:10 PM.
The names of the victims or the reason for the crash have not yet been released to the public by authorities.
