Three People Injured in Car Collision on Alicia Parkway and Pacific Park Drive

ALISO VIEJO, CA (February 28, 2018) – On Wednesday, Aliso Viejo’s chief of police was injured in a car collision on Alicia Parkway that involved a pedestrian and five vehicles.

According to Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Carrie Braun, the crash occurred at around 7:00 AM on Alicia Parkway and Pacific Park Drive. Aliso Viejo officials said sheriff’s department employee Lt. John MacPherson, chief of the city’s police services, was injured when his car was struck by a motorist who ran a red light.

According to officials, MacPherson is supposed to retire within the next several days. Further details about the extent of his injuries and additional information about the incident were not immediately released.

A sheriff’s department vehicle involved in the collision was driven by a manager for the agency, but authorities also refused to disclose the name. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision due to the involvement of a sheriff’s department employee.

Traffic was rerouted away from the area while an investigation was conducted.

Traffic lights are meant to protect all motorists and are supposed to be followed. Driving in an area with intersections is always risky and requires drivers to have full attention on their driving and the road. A minor judgment lapse could lead to disastrous results and may end up hurting the driver, or worse, other motorists in the area. Drive safely and stay alert to prevent any tragic accidents that may put you and others around you in danger.
