Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle on 10 Freeway in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 28, 2019) – A woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning on 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
The fatal incident happened just before 5:00 a.m. along the eastbound lanes of the freeway at South Alameda Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a female pedestrian was walking in lanes when she was hit by a pickup truck. The victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash raised a SigAlert, closing three freeway lanes and the Alameda Street off-ramp heading into downtown for a period of time. One lane was re-opened while the investigation commenced, but the situation caused major traffic backups Monday morning.
It is unknown why the victim was in the roadway. Her identity has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
Authorities are looking further into the incident to determine the liability.
Our condolences remain with the family members and all friends of the victim involved in this sudden tragedy. We hope they are brought peace and comfort at this time.
