Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Winchell’s on Beverly Boulevard and Alvarado Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 25, 2018) – One person was injured and one was killed after a pedestrian accident with a minivan on Beverly Boulevard, Sunday afternoon.
According to the Los Angeles Fire and Police Departments, the incident occurred at around 3:25 PM at the 2100 block of Beverly Boulevard near the Alvarado Street intersection.
The grey minivan veered off the road and crashed into a Winchell’s Donut House in the Westlake district. The alleged DUI driver struck two male pedestrians who were in critical condition when emergency personnel arrived on the scene of the accident. Both victims were transported to a local hospital where one was pronounced dead shortly after. The surviving pedestrian remained hospitalized in with life-threatening injuries.
A witness identified the victim as someone named David and claimed he was a friend. No other details about the deceased have been provided at this time.
The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety will determine the structural safety of the Winchell’s, while the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. It is suspected that drugs or alcohol may have played a role in this fatal accident.
