Driver Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 27, 2019) – One person was injured following a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101 Wednesday afternoon in Los Angeles.
Officers received calls about the collision around 2:25 p.m. First responders then arrived along the northbound lanes of the highway near the East 1st Street off-ramp soon after.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at least five vehicles were involved in the accident. Reports indicate that a black BMW and a black Toyota 4Runner collided for unknown reasons. The impact caused one of the vehicles to overturn in the slow lane.
The BMW was found wrecked and smoking upon authorities arrival. An ambulance unit was immediately dispatched due to needed medical attention. The driver of the BMW reportedly suffered a head injury and was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. There has been no update on the current condition of the Toyota driver.
The main portion of the highway and the off-ramp were blocked for about 30 minutes while evidence was collected and photographed.
An investigation is still ongoing to eventually determine liability. No more information regarding the circumstances leading up to the accident have been disclosed.
