LOS ANGELES, CA (January 30, 2018) – A basket of a cherry-picker came in contact with power lines on the 300 block of 87th Place on Tuesday evening around 6:50 PM, killing one and injuring another.

Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department said that a 17-year-old boy that was in the basket and jumped about 15-20 feet down onto a corrugated metal building. He sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and was reported to be in stable condition.

The 22-year-old victim was electrocuted and remained in the boom basket. Rescuers tried to make contact with the man for over two hours, but were unsuccessful due to the live high-voltage electrical lines. The fatal accident is still under investigation by officials. They still do not know why these two men were in the area, and if they were workers workers. The identities of the two victims have no yet been released by authorities.

Sincere sympathies to the family and friends of the young man. May he rest in peace.
