Thirteen People Hospitalized after Bus Crash near Soto Street in East LA
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 22, 2018) – A two-bus collision on the 10 Freeway injured a total of thirteen people, on a rainy Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a car tumbling into the traffic lanes is what started the chain of accidents. The driver lost control and struck a tree at around 10:30 AM, resulting in a blocked lane on the 10. Officials from CHP and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene.
Shortly after that, a Greyhound intercity bus going to Las Vegas rear-ended a Foothill Transit commuter bus at its left side, near Soto Street.
Thirteen ambulances were sent to the scene of the accident. Around forty people were assessed by the medics while thirteen people were taken to nearby hospitals for further evaluation and treatment. At least one person was reported to be in critical condition.
The Greyhound bus had thirty-eight passengers plus the driver when the crash happened. The company is conducting an independent investigation at this time. No other information has been released to the public.
It is important to always be aware and alert when behind the wheel of a car, truck, or bus. Stay within the speed limit, and follow the rules of the road to prevent any dangerous accidents. Always keep an eye out for other vehicles, pedestrians, or motorcyclists on the road.
