Two Elderly People Fatally Injured in Two-Car Crash near Patterson Avenue
WINCHESTER, CA (July 24, 2018) – Two elderly people were killed Tuesday evening, following a head-on collision near Patterson Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place shortly before 9:00 PM. A 2000 Saturn Ion was heading east on Domenigoni Parkway when it drifted to the left and crossed the dirt center median. There, the vehicle collided head-on with a westbound silver 2016 Toyota Corolla driven by 82-year-old Lorraine Johansen of Menifee.
Johansen was rushed to the Menifee Valley Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead less than an hour later. The driver of the Saturn, identified as an 82-year-old Hemet man, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His name was not immediately released.
Authorities continue to investigate in order to determine the cause of the deadly crash. An autopsy is pending on the man’s remains to determine whether alcohol and/or a medical condition contributed to the accident.
No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
