18-Year-Old Benton City Teen Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck after Crash near Interstate 90
RITZVILLE, WA (August 23, 2018) – A teen was killed early Thursday morning following a rollover crash near Interstate 90. The victim was later identified as 18-year-old Benton City resident, Loren McGhan.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident took place at about 2:43 AM. A red 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier was heading north on Highway 395 when it lost control and rolled over.
The impact ejected McGhan, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, and came to rest on the northbound lanes. A semi-truck traveling northbound was unable to avoid the teen driver and ran him over.
McGhan sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. A GoFundMe page was created to assist the victim’s family with funeral expenses. Click on the link to donate and to support the campaign.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information has not yet been provided to the public at this time.
