Three Elderly People Injured when Car Crashes into Building at 1440 Coffman Street
LONGMONT, CO (April 23, 2018) – A car crashes into The Peaks Care Center, injuring three elderly residents, on Monday afternoon.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 3:30 PM at 14140 Coffman Street, at the continuing care retirement community. The driver was visiting a family member and went to park, when she accidentally hit the throttle instead of the break.
This mistake drove the car into the front of the building and through it. Longmont Police and firefighters arrived to the scene of the crash to find three individuals injured. A 74-year-old woman was taken to the Longmont United Hospital, an 83-year-old woman was transported to the Longs Peak Hospital, and an 84-year-old man suffered minor injuries and refused to be taken to the hospital.
Although three people were injured, four people inside the building were impacted in the collision. The driver was not hurt from the impact, and police officials are waiting to charge her at this time.
Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be contributing factors at this time, as the driver showed no signs of impairment. No additional information has been disclosed at this time.
