Senior Man in Critical Condition after Pedestrian Crash on 53rd Street and Atlantic Avenue
LONG BEACH, CA (February 28, 2018) – A man was hospitalized and continues to be in critical condition after struck by a vehicle in a pedestrian collision on 53rd Street on Wednesday evening.
Sgt. Brad Johnson said that the male pedestrian was walking eastbound at 53rd Street when a vehicle headed north on Atlantic Avenue struck him at about 8:50 PM. The man appeared to be in his 60s, according to reports. It was not immediately confirmed if the man was in a crosswalk when the car hit him.
Johnson reported that the man was unconscious when police arrived, and paramedics quickly transported him to a local hospital.
Police are still investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash. The identity of the man has not yet been released to the public.
