Five People Hospitalized after Rear-End Collision near Little Kalama River Road

WOODLAND, WA (May 5, 2018) – A collision between three cars sent a total of five people to the hospital, on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident happened at around 3:48 PM on State Route 504, near Little Kalama River Road. 18-year-old Logan Schoonover of Woodland was slowing down to prepare for a left turn from SR 504 onto Little Kalama River Rd, when his vehicle was rear-ended by 61-year-old Roger Opp of Spokane.

The impact of the collision caused Schoonover’s vehicle to cross into the northbound lanes, where a third vehicle, driven by 70-year-old Richard Moore of Tualatin, struck him. Moore’s vehicle flipped over and came to rest in a nearby ditch.

A total of five people were transported to the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver. These included Moore, Schoonover, Opp, and two passengers in Opp’s vehicle: 56-year-old Sandra Opp, and 38-year-old Corey Opp, both residents of Spokane. The hospital’s spokesman stated that the all victims of the collision were successfully treated and released on either Saturday or Sunday.

Affected areas were temporarily shut down for clearing and investigation. In the authorities’ initial report, it was determined that all the people involved in the crash were secured in a seatbelt at the time of the incident. Also, there are pending charges against Opp, but no further information about this accident was immediately available to the public.
