Jonathan McCarthy Arrested after Fatal Crash on Big Ranch Road in Napa
NAPA, CA (August 5, 2019) – A passenger was killed in a crash during a police pursuit Monday evening in Napa County.
The chase started around 7:30 p.m. when officers responded to Raley’s grocery store on Soscol Avenue to investigate reports from store employees that a man was suspiciously parked in a white Honda behind the store, Napa police said.
The employees later told dispatchers a man was passed out behind the wheel of the car, and was displaying symptoms consistent with a possible drug overdose.
The Honda had took off when officers arrived but it was soon spotted in the area of Maxwell Bridge. Officers attempted to pull the car over, but the driver, 24-year-year-old Jonathan Thomas McCarthy, kept going.
McCarthy led the officers in a pursuit onto Big Ranch Road. Sheriff’s deputies then deployed a spike strip. McCarthy swerved and lost control of the car, causing it to overturn on its roof.
Another male passenger was also ejected from the car. Paramedics rushed him to Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Logan Dale Patrick Bogan, 34, of Oakley.
McCarthy was later arrested on suspicion of evading police, possession of stolen property, vehicle theft, and murder.
We would like to extend our sympathies to the bereaved families and friends of Logan Dale Patrick Bogan.
