San Jose Man Dead in Accident on Highway 59 by Freitas Avenue
MERCED COUNTY, CA (October 17, 2021) – Saturday night, Lloyd Riggen, 80, died died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 59 and Sandy mush Road.
The fatal head-on accident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. on Highway 59 and Sandy Mush Road, near Freitas Avenue.
According to CHP officers, a sedan traveled north on the highway. Then, it veered across the southbound lane and collided with a pickup truck.
As a result, the sedan driver, identified as Mr. Riggen, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, the truck driver, identified as Angel Machado, required hospitalization. His condition remains undisclosed.
Furthermore, the CHP officers continue to investigate the crash. According to them, a curve in the road and speed may have played a role in the crash.
