Lloyd Baxter of Excelsior Springs Injured in Dunbar Avenue Collision [Clay County, MO]

Clay County, MO (July 24, 2024) –  67-year-old Lloyd Baxter was injured in a Dunbar Avenue collision Monday.

It was before noon when the collision happened north of Ley Street.  

Troopers said an SUV driven by 52-year-old Brett Nelson, also of Excelsior Springs, was traveling north when he crossed the center line and struck the southbound pickup truck driven by Baxter. 

Baxter incurred minor injuries while Nelson suffered serious injuries. They were both transported to Liberty Hospital for treatment. 

Officers said Nelson wasn’t wearing a seat belt during the accident. 

Yield right of way. It is important to understand the right of way. Be sure to yield to drivers who have the right of way. However, it is safe to never assume that all drivers know the rules. Only proceed when it is safe to do so.
